Chaisson Downgraded...

It was lazy to continuously defend a factually wrong position that could have been avoided if you had simply googled "NFL practice squad rules". Second, I'm not for beating up on someone who made a mistake. We all make mistakes occasionally. However, you started a thread based upon a falsehood and continued to argue for that falsehood despite multiple people informing you that you were wrong. Some people, such as myself, had to tell you multiple times that your statements were false and you kept defending it. Even in the message quoted above, you are continuing to argue that "downgraded" means anything other than an injury status. You ask why was he downgraded? Because as time passed, it became more apparent that his injury would prevent him from playing in the game. Why else would he be downgraded on an injury report!?!?! This is very routine. In the very same week, both Zay Jones and Cole Van Lanen were also downgraded from questionable to out. Since that time, the same thing for Foley Fatukasi. This is standard practice. I'm at a loss on whether you are purposely trying to be deceptive or are you really this ignorant of NFL practices. Do you not understand the concept of an injury report? As far as Chaisson, yes, he obviously was a bad first round draft pick. I highly doubt anyone is arguing that point. If one were to make an argument in his defense, it would be that he still remains very young. Some might be surprised to know that Chaisson is younger than 3 of our 2022 draft picks and another 2 draft picks are within a month of his age. Young players sometimes improve. However, this is besides the point. The question is what do you gain by cutting him? You don't get that first round pick back. Because his salary is guaranteed, you don't get any salary cap savings. In fact, it would cost the Jaguars more to cut him. You only cut him if you have someone better available to take his spot and we don't, so we keep him. It wouldn't be the crime of the century, but it makes little logical sense to cut him when we don't have anyone better at his position to take his place. |
