The other day, someone brought up Josh Allen as a project that paid off, and I couldn't help but think how their fans/coaches dealt with the development. They understood. It was gonna take time to get him familiar with a serious step up in competition. While I didn't get a weekly dose of Bills football to gauge their level of (dis-)pleasure, I don't recall the wolves howling as he took his lumps.

Maybe our fans bought into the media hype. Maybe the fans just want us to forego future prospect and just sign an aging vet to play out the twilight of their career for a short chance to do something big. I dunno. But cripes, it's gotta be discouraging as all hell to play for a team that gets booed the minute the team struggles. My biggest fear is the kid does finally figure it out, but when time comes for a new deal, he does like everyone before him and asks to seek greener pastures. Lather, rinse, repeat.
