That depends. Our team was still "hoping" the Bortles would turn into a good QB, so we took Fournette over Watson/Mahomes. In hindsight it's obvious.. a little bit more difficult of a choice in the moment.

The problem with a front office giving up on a QB is they and the coaching staff are often tied to them, so for job security they are often compelled to make it work.  I’m not a hot taek kinda guy, but I was an early out on Bortles.  I don’t see what I saw in Bortles in Lawrence… at all.

In Bortles defense, he made up some ground with toughness and his legs, but as a passer he was never any good and when he was able to hide his deficiencies it was because the coaching staff reeled him in because they knew they couldn’t trust him to not be the reason we lost.
