I've thought about this for awhile but wanted to see TLaw into the season a bit before stating my thoughts/opinion.

Someone said last night it seems like parts of the game are still too fast for Trevor and I think that's the case too. I'm not ready to hang him out to dry yet and here's why.

Look at his first year. It was a dumpster fire of distraction and discontent. Between the Urban Meyer Decay hype leading up to the season as well as the Tim Tebow circus in preseason, that's enough to be a problem for some rookies never mind the "generational QB" hype Trevor had to endure. Then the season starts and all hell breaks loose with the coaching situation we saw and heard about from other players. Then the bar scene happened that blew up; Meyer assaults Lambo; Trevor has to take a stand as a rookie to try and protect the team. That's just the stuff we know about. Oh, and Meyer is fired and now they have an interim coach.

How much actual football did TLaw and the team actually get to learn? How much of the basic mechanics of the NFL did TLaw get to learn? We all consider this season to be ETN's first because he didn't get to play a single down last season. TLaw got to play but he and the rest of the team may as well have been in a blender being chewed up by the [BLEEP] storm around them. Now they're in a new season with new coaches and rookie and veteran players from other teams and they're all trying to figure it out and get in sync. And ALL of this is plastered all over sports and social media who are rarely friendly to the Jags.

So, yeah. I'm willing to give TLaw the benefit of the doubt this year and now that's he under a competent HC and other coaching staff we should absolutely see improvement next year. I told my husband yesterday I would have rather us started out slow or bad and improved as the season went along rather than looking so good initially only to decline as the season goes on. His Panthers are now 2-5 and somehow beat the Bucs yesterday but they still suck so he kind of gets it.
