I would have let him play out the year here and made a decision in the off-season versus receiving a 5th now.  I’m not suggesting we could have gotten much more given the circumstances, I just value his service even what little might have been left of it more than a 5th round pick.

I agree with this.  A great coach can find a way to utilize Robinson.  There is value in having different kinds of runners with different strengths.  And it doesnt appear we are all that deep behind those two.  Hasty who has had one nice run and Snoop who has been underwhelming everytime we've seen him.  I also would rather have kept him for the rest of the year and figured out what to do in the offseason.  Maybe the guy loves the team and city and would have taken a friendly deal to stay.  Maybe he wouldn't.  Who knows.  But I think his value to the team the rest of the year is worth more than the 6th or 5th we got for him.  On the open trade market I'm actually somewhat surprised we got what we did (RBs just arent valued much) but I think he is more valuable to us on the team than a 3rd day draft pick.
