Jaguars Pass Protection Win Rate

This is may have been the first play of the fourth quarter - mid-drive for the Jags I think.

Lawrence's first read is Marvin Jones on a comeback route. The dropping LB is in the way so Lawrence needs to come off of the read and look elsewhere. (top right of screen below)

Now, if he comes immediately off of that read and looks at Zay Jones about to break inward from the right side, he'd have a 22 yard completion.

In this clip, you can see his head turn that way and try to set his feet to throw to Zay, but just as he does, he's under pressure and tucks it.

This is a good example of where he could process the reads more quickly, but it also shows how fast it happens.

2.6 seconds after the snap -  If he makes that second read .25 seconds faster it's a first down. Instead it's 4th down and a punt.

Watch him, right before he takes off - he's about to plant and throw. Just needed to make that decision a split second sooner.

BUT....

It looks like a screen play though. Look at how #68 & #69 let their guys get by them and start to run to their left at a downfield angle. That's clearly a designed screen play there for Etienne. So, was it really Robinson blowing his block there or him just trying to entrap the edge rusher into the pocket so Etienne could leak out?

Yeah - it's a badly executed screen. I was focused on Engrams route fro the wider view. My bad. Check out the one above though.
Interesting IMO.
He also had plenty of time to make the throw but he got scared. His feet were set and ready to release the ball but he didn't.

The line blocked the stunt fine but he didn't release the ball to the wide open WR. If the LB is dropping back toward the outside, then immediately move to the next read. Don't stare down the WR for 2 seconds when you have 2 defenders there.
