Mike Caldwell & This Current Defence

Josh is getting a lot more one on one opportunities due to Travon's strength and commanding a lot more blocking, chip blocks, etc. in his direction. This is him looking at film week after week, having his own little segment twice a week with this crew at 10:00 AM and with the coach personally to recap.

So, there's clearly an issue. Combined with Searcy flat out saying they look unmotivated yesterday, etc. This notion though that Josh is unsuccessful because of the lack of interior rush. I rarely hear it come up with these former football players. It just doesn't seem to come up at all. If anything, they look at the game as match up's. You go back and look at some of these overbearing, dominating front fours?

For example, look at last night's game with WAS and PHI. Both Sweats from each team. They were winning and whooping that [BLEEP] in one-on-one situations and effecting the QB, forcing a fumble, mauling a runner behind the LOS, etc. Again, ONE ON ONE. Alright? None of this, "Well, Fatukasi isn't doing something or Hamilton isn't doing something".

It was mano a mano. At some point, we can argue scheme this, scheme that until we're blue in the face. But, at some point? These players need to make plays. It's as simple as that.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing that Allen is underperforming?
(you may have had disagreement on trading him - but not this)

Seems to be a consensus.

Are there things that could help him like better coverage and an interior disruptor? Sure.
Have they faced quick release game-plans and mobile QBs more than league norm lately? Sure.

Is he still not getting it done well enough in spite of all that? Absolutely.
Dude needs to step up.
