As D6 mentioned in another thread - 4 seconds is the difference between Lamar being under clock pressure to complete a sideline pass and having time to scramble/improvise and connect downfield within FG range. 

The average pocket time for QBs is 2.5 seconds.  
4 seconds of clock time for a great-mobility QB like Lamar to scramble and look downfield is an eternity in that perspective. 

Our pass rush  - while in prevent mode -  was not going to hit him in 3 seconds. 
We can all do the math and weigh the possibilities  but the squib make slots of sense in that scenario. 

And believe me - I HATE defending countermeasures like squibs. I just really get it in this scenario.
