Correct me if I'm wrong... We can save 13,000,000 by cutting Shaq Griffin. We can save 7,250,000 by cutting Roy Roberston-Harris We can save by also letting some lesser 1 million contracts walk. And there are a few million more we can save off just borderline players that maybe we can draft a replacement for. Plus expiring contracts like Engram's that I would be OK with dropping. I'd love to keep Taylor. I think we should try to restructure a deal that pays him forward. Most teams do those types of deals. I really do love Agnew, I'd like to keep him. I don't think you can really replayce a dude like him. He's good for a game changing play at least 4 times a season. That's important. I just don't get why anyone would look at him as a salary casualty. His value is beyond that. Just look at his contributions in the past 3 weeks. Dude saved our [BLEEP] against Las Vegas and he made a great TD pass route that not many players can make just this Sunday. That's 2 game changing plays by guy that is still young and very dangerious. Anyways... I'm a bit on edge with this conversation because the Jaguar history is to let our best players go because we're unwilling to pay them. I think it's about damn time to keep the talent we drafted and developed. And Agnew is one of them. Cut guys like Shaq Griffin and some of our players that didn't pan out. But the players that are showing promise, there has to be a commitment to keep them. The best teams in the league always have a core group they keep for a significant time. When changes need to be made, replacements are already lined up. The Little/Taylor situation is like that. I'd love to keep Taylor, and maybe we can if we make a reasonable "prove it" offer for next year. If another team wants to over pay, I get why you have to let him go. Conversely, I think a player like Jenkins as Safety should be kept. He's paid like a vet, but he plays like one too. Why let that go and make your defense worse? There are a lot of sub 1.0 mill deals for players we know are not worthy that we can cut to keep players that are contributors. I'm just sick of watching our best players being let go because of "cap casualties". It's just being cheap, in my book. Keep your core players. Agnew, in my opinoin, is one of them. Same with Jenkins. I'd rather keep Jenkins and cut Josh Allen, for instance. Allen has no real impact on games, in my opinion. On the other hand, Jenkins has been good in coverage, good at safety and has make impactful plays that warrant keeping him. Josh Allen, on the other hand, while a high draft pick hasn't really done anything to warrant sacrificing real contributing players for an overpayment on hoping Allen finally figures it out. |
