Sorry to say it, but right now I think the #1 need on this team is a new Defensive Coordinator.
Twelve games into the season, the players have no clue what they're doing. They're confused, can't seem to line up right, blow coverages constantly, can't get any pressure on the passer, and as a result can't stop anybody. I agree we need better players, but we have good enough players to do a lot better than this. Doug's postgame comment that he is not involved in the game planning on defense is the first clue that he is dissatisfied with that area of the coaching staff. So we may see some change coming. If not now, then in the offseason. |
