You knew or should have known (because many on here told you) that rookies need time, coaching, and surrounding talent to develop.

But you were determined to be a reactionary.  You were determined to write him off.

It's obvious what your rationale was.  But in your zeal to be the smartest guy in the room, you were blind to the talent and potential many of us saw, and bottom line, you were wrong.

I WAS SAYING THE SAME THING WHEN WE ALL THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO BE A JET. This was not a reaction to his rookie season. When we were likely to have the #2 pick I was wanting to take Kyle Pitts or Jamarr Chase. I still would have drafted Lawrence because regardless if I thought the hype was a bit much, he was still the only QB in that class that really peaked my interest for a top 1-2 pick. I wouldn't have gone QB at all in the first round if we picked 2 and the Jets took him. So it's not like I didn't think it was possible he could be good, I just thought the comparisions in college to guys like Luck who were damn near perfect and looked like they had been in the NFL for a few years before they got drafted was a stretch when I watched him at Clemson.

Edit: Also this has nothing to do with wanting to be the smartest guy in the room, I made an observation and got bashed for it. So I responded.

I said he has trouble with accuracy particularly over throwing WRs - Tell me if this wasn't an issue his first season and a half.
I said he makes questionable decisions when faced with adversity or in a close game - 2 goal line ints, multiple ints at the end of games this year, him folding when the bengals came back after we were pounding them last season etc. - Tell me none of that happened.


I pointed out his flaws. He busted his [BLEEP] and got better. Did I doubt him at times? Absolutely. Did he prove my doubt wrong, absolutely. I don't know what else you want me to tell you.
