I think you could make a case that the Dolphins should be swapped into the AFC South, then the Colts out of the South and into the North, then the Ravens out of the North and into the East to replace the Dolphins.

But what if the NFL took a note from college football and put all of the divisional games at the end of the schedule? What if every year for every team was kind of like this year for the Jags, where you have high stakes rivalry games at the end, where almost every team still has a chance to win their division?

That would work to create excitement in some divisions each year, but you’d lose the occasional intraconference game with significant playoff implications in the final weeks of the season.  

I really like the current set up with most teams playing half their division games in the final month or so of the year while sprinkling in some non-division games.  Puts a focus on those final division games but not exclusively so.
