Gus Bradley: The Closer

Quote:Name the last team that spent big in FA then went on to win the SB? It seems to me that all the big signings usually fall short... The Eagles "Dream Team" Year, last years Dolphins team, The year the Browns spent tons of money on the offensive line....I'm sure there's more. I agree that you need a blend of free agents/ drafting and trading to generate a top level roster. However, wheres our "top level FA" type signings? (and please don't say Clemons, he's 33 and coming off an ACL from 2 years ago which no one knows if he'll be able to reach double digit QB sacks again). The Jags have cornered the market with these low level and perhaps mid level signings-(Clemons/ Beadles), but they have yet to make even one high profile free agent signing (or trade) (or draft pick, really...) in Caldwell's tenure. ....kinda resembles a "base-hit" strategy. Now where have I heard that before? |
