Last year he was also a decent strong Saftey who struggled when asked to cover. This year's staff is just smarter about mitigating the coverage calls so he isn't required to man up on a TE or WR as often. He's not playing a different or "natural" position. He played SS last year and plays there this year too. Cisco is a very talented player that PFF ranks 18th on there NFL safety rankings after week 16. If my count is accurate JENKINS is ranked 68 out of 64 starting safeties. Maybe someone with a PFF subscription can double check that. Seems a bit low. I'd have put him around 50th. You see, a ratings system like PFF (flawed as they may be) looks at every single snap. And while fans can allow their perspective to be easily altered by a few big plays, all those bad snaps still exist and factor into the rating and ranking on a site like that one. And unfortunately, Jenkins has whiffed on tackles that resulted in big gains many times, and he has been burned badly by TEs and receivers when he had to cover them downfield and not just near the LOS. All of those bad plays add up. He has allowed a 73% completion rate this year - and in 5 different games this year he allowed a 100% comp rate. Like I keep saying - Gotta take the good with the bad. note edits above was X-Mas multi tasking LOL |
