Compared to a few years ago, the Jaguars are much worse off since they basically lead the league in available money. However, things are not looking so bad on that front for next season. The team is currently estimated to be about $17 million over the cap. Cutting Griffin and Chaissen pretty much make up that amount. The toughest decision will be whether to let Robertson-Harris go. If they did, that would add about an $8 million cushion to sign which would easily cover the rookie signings. Evan Engram is the only free agent who will cost a lot, however that can be managed.

For the team to have expectations of going deep into the playoffs next season, Baalke must have a good draft. A quality pass rusher, nickel corner and offensive lineman must be added during the first 2 days of the draft. Walker and Lloyd must show typical growth expected of a 2nd year player. Even if Walker is moved to defensive end, Baalke will likely need to find less expensive replacements for Robertson-Harris, Smoot and Arden Key. Thankfully, Baalke has added several key free agents who should keep the team rolling. Kirk, Zay Jones, Schereff, Oluakon, Fatukasi and Darious Williams have for the most part met the team's expectations. It took Williams a while since he was played out of position. I do expect Fatukasi to improve significantly next season as he was a disappointment.

I gave Baalke an 8/10 due mostly to the free agents he has signed. He may not be a warm and fuzzy guy whom everybody loves, but he seems to work well with Pederson and must get some credit for the team's great improvement this season.
