It’s fair to criticize his drafts in San Fran, but I don’t know how you get to anger and hate from just that.  People learn and get better at their jobs.  He’s done well enough here to buy himself some time and he didn’t deserve what some in this fan base directed at him last year and into this year.  I’ve said it before, but the clown out did more to ensure Baalke was retained than not.  Congratulations I guess.

I get the feeling that Jed York was/is a douche and probably more to blame than anyone for how the 49ers situation unfolded and he’d have a greater ability to control the narrative in the local media there if anyone did.  That said, I know better than to take that feeling and run with it as fact given I wasn’t in the building.

That last paragraph is a drum I've been beating for a while. Jed was a turd during Harbaugh's tenure, and I have a feeling he was forcing a lot of the moves that went on in the aftermath. While Baalke did do what he did while he was there, I've been willing to see if he's learned or grown from his time there (and here) to be a better leader. Skeptics are justified to remain skeptical, but I have yet to see the man act as filthy as some portray him to be.

The Tomsula hire specifically feels like Jed made that decision to me.  I remember thinking at the time he was announced that this’ll be a one and done situation.  I think Jed either missed out on his guy that year or didn’t like the candidate pool and punted to the following year knowing he was gonna clean house.  Baalke gets full blame for that around here though.  I just can’t imagine Baalke actually wanted to hire Tomsula given where he was in his tenure there at that point.
