I wouldn't call it rooting to lose, but there was a lot of acceptance and contentment when we didn't sneak in a few meaningless wins. Big picture thinking.

I never wanted 41-0 shellackings, but was fine if we fell short by a tuddie or so. I think more than rooting to lose, it was realizing that the squad was simply too limited to expect a consistent winner. The team played without discipline, without confidence, and when they fell short, you kinda saw it coming.

What a difference a year or two makes. That confidence and camaraderie are what keep us in the games, whether they're close losses, surprising wins, or absolute beatdowns.
