The King is Dead! Long Live the King!

In 1996, in a win or go home game, DE Brackens makes a game saving tackle against the Falcons to set up a 30 yard missed FG, which sent the Jaguars to the playoffs for the first time in team history.
The next game, which was a win or go home game, DE Clyde Simmons snatched a shovel pass for an interception, to score the Jaguars first ever points in the playoffs that tied the game and propelled the Jaguars to get rolling and beat the Bills. The next game up in Denver, in a win or go home game, DE Clyde Simmons blocked an extra point after Denver scored the first TD of the game. The next time Denver scored a TD they chose to go for 2 and the pass bounced off Shannon Sharpe’s chest and the score was 12-0. That small play effected the outcome of the game and the Jaguars would go on to win in one of the biggest playoff upsets in NFL history. Are you noticing a pattern yet ? Last week, in a win or go home type of game against the Texans, the Jags were leading with a score of 14-0 in the 2nd quarter DE/OLB Josh Allen pushed the right tackle in the backfield and caused a fumble, in which Tyson Campbell scooped and scored which stretched the lead to 21-0, which put the game out of reach. Tonight in a win or go home game, DE/OLB Josh Allen scoops up a fumble recovery and busted the game wide open which ultimately became the game winning TD Also should point out that DE/OLB Trevon Walker snatched an interception in his first official game as a rookie. It was eerily similar to Clyde Simmons’ int against Buffalo in ‘96. We ended up losing the game but it was almost fate as to what was to come later in the season, as we are now 2022 AFC South Division Champions. |
