Obviously the Eagles defense was garbage in the second half. KC had a lot of wide open WRs. And didnt get nearly as much pressure as they could have. Have to credit KC's offensive line throughout the playoffs. Very underrated unit. Saying all that, back to the topic, I thought the call at the end was bad. Refs need to have some awareness in big moments when a penalty will ultimately determine the outcome. If KC is forced to kick a FG, there would have been plenty of time for the Eagles to match that if not score a TD. But that penalty effectively ended the game. Was it a penalty? I guess. It isnt a play that gets flagged every time. And it's the kind of play if that if it goes uncalled in the 2nd quarter of the 3rd regular season game, no one would ever remember as it is so close to the line of not being a penalty. Plays like that go uncalled multiple times in every game. The DBs were allowed to play pretty physical throughout this Super Bowl so the refs had already set the precedent. Bradberry had already gotten away with what I thought was a more egregious hold earlier in the game and it wasn't called. On that final play, the WR was still able to get away from the coverage and had a step on his man before Mahomes chose to throw. It was just a bad overthrow (probably trying to make sure either his guy caught it or no one did). But the play was still there for the offense to make and they didnt make it. It was just too ticky-tack of a call to make in that moment to basically decide the game. Unfortunate the refs became a part of the storyline.

As far as Bradberry admitting to the hold, that was like one of those hostage videos where he is reading from a script. You could see his pause before he answered. He chose the financially prudent answer.

It feels like the torch has officially passed from Brady to Mahomes in terms of respect from the refs.
