My brother tried to justify the hit on Mahomes saying the defender couldn't let up. Some people just think anything that goes against what they want is a bad call.

I've heard the same regarding momentum, etc. Regardless, in today's game, the player has to prepare accordingly and not let his momentum cause an impact when the QB runs out of bounds. I don't like it because it's a fast moving game with 265 pound players running 4.5 but he needs to be in control and let up in time. In that case, I do think the Bengals player could have missed Mahommes but in that split second chose to push him (then Mahommes exaggerated his fall to ensure he got the call).

There a lot of plays that momentum and body mechanics could be argued for things to not be a penalty.

The issue is that it is very difficult to make those judgement in real time and also by refs on the field without the help of replays. Trying to take all that in to effect would extend the games too much.
