When you do that - the next two years are going to be "draft and develop" oriented whether you like it or not. 

So far - what we have to judge Baalke on in rounds 3-5 is hit and miss - or incomplete:

Fortner 
Muma
Conner
Cisco
Tufele
Jordan Smith
Luke Farrell

You've got 3 guys that look promising, one guy they probably cut too soon (Tufele) , one guy who is solid depth with some potential (Farrell), and Conner/Smith who are long shots to succeed. 

From this list - it would appear it is rounds 4 and 5 that are tough for Baalke. (like most GMs I imagine) 
His round 3 picks all appear on a decent trajectory for success, albeit early to be certain for 2 of them.

It matters. The cap increase is usually only 5-9% in normal years. You're reaching - and failing.

WE HAVE ALSO HAD A TON OF CAP SPACE GOING INTO FREE AGENCY FOR A MAJORITY OF THOSE 10 OFF SEASONS. 

So once again, you absolute bafoon. Your point is irrelevant as usual.

Go back and look at the sentence of mine that you bolded. This was your point. Your debate. You quoted me.
Don't try to twist it into something else other than what you quoted me on. 

It doesn't say "we just spent a lot of money in free agency - so we can't do it again." 
It doesn't say "our prior regime cumulatively spent a lot over an 8 year stretch - so we can't do it again." 

It says we set a new record for a single offseason in FA spending. 
  Cap increase be damned. There is literally no way we could spend big again this year, and any big spending the following offseason is likely going to be used retaining our own players. My assertion is accurate. 

Another side of this that should be obvious is that we should NOT want our team to not spend big in free agency in consecutive years. It usually means multiple signings or picks have busted or a team is propping up a roster for a short window of contention.
