They aren't wasting their time trying to build a team to stop KC, they are working on building a team that can run with KC and to out score them.

No one can shut them down, but Cinci has slowed them down. Held them to less than 25 points in 3 of 4 games. And the Bengals even won the game where the Chiefs scored more than that.

But yes historically the Mahomes' led Chiefs will score 28 points. So you have to plan to be able to score that many, and then hope you defense can make some big timely plays to force TO's, force a few FG's or punts.
