Okay so even if we agree Anton was a need, I still don't see how we would consider Strange or Tank "Needs". I think "Needs based drafting" means you're taking a guy to fill a hole on the roster, particularly a starting position. If you include backups into that category, than BPA vs Needs drafting is no longer an argument, because you basically can just consider every single position a need, regardless if we have a bonafide starter there already or not.

I can see why some would call a more legit #2 RB a real need. We struggled to run in short yardage situations last year at key moments and ETN seems to have some durability concerns. 
I just don't see it as a "spend a third round pick" type of need, personally. 

I can see why some folks (including Doug Pederson) consider a versatile TE a need. Evan Engram is a bit too one dimensional - and putting a blocking TE out there who can't be a threat in the pass game is tipping your hand to defenses every time you line him up. (i.e. Farrell and Manhertz types)  A TE who can block and catch enhances your ability to out scheme your opponent.

The discussion many are having is simply about prioritizing these needs differently, and finding a way to draft those other needs ahead of TE or RB.
