If he somehow beats out four of those guys (and the potential H-Back/FB candidate) for a roster spot and one of them goes on to a better career, I'll happily bow in acceptance to your premature cries of nepotism.

That is exactly the same rationalising about Tebow that had you foaming at the mouth.  It’s clear you understand exactly what you’re doing but hope that by pretending you don’t, that you’ll get a pass.  Your attempt to say “nothing to see here” is fine with me. Tebow had comparable stats at TE in NCAA, CFL, USFL, or any other startup league?

Teebs had ZERO JUSTIFICATION for getting a look, which did have several of us, who were already voicing concerns over the ineptitude of the coach at the time, quite vocally opposed.
Teebs got his look.
Teebs failed miserably performed exactly as most of us expected, based on his experience at the position.
Teebs was sent packing. 
Everyone moved on.

Okay, maybe not that last bit, as we've seen from your recent posts. That's what you don't get. This isn't apples to apples. JP has spent his career playing at the position we signed him to play, and has proven that he can do so, at the level one would expect of a bottom of the roster signing. There's at least SOME reason why any coach could defend signing this kid to a deal to see if he's ready for the big league. What justification was there with Teebs?

I mean, you seem to know that there are plenty of other capable TE out there who missed an opportunity because the coach had to bring his kid to work.
