I'm talking about affirmative action, quotas, diversity programs, stuff like that.  It's legalized racial and sex discrimination.  

And who is endorsing and encouraging it?  The government, major colleges and universities, large corporations.  

It's creating a new set of victims to replace the old set of victims.  And this new set of victims is co-opted and politically exploited by right wing extremists.

Now, in one thread, you were concerned about right wing extremists, but over in this thread, you think one of the things that is causing this right wing extremism is funny.  It's not funny.  It's causing the very thing you are concerned about.

Why do you think Trump's base consists mainly of white people without a college education? These are people who are constantly in fear of slipping out of the lower middle class.  And then they see that the world is favoring one group or another over them.  I personally would never vote for Trump.  But I have to admit these people have a grievance, and they don't see the government being on their side.  

This whole idea of favoring one group over another is pure poison to our society.  And yet for the past 50 years, this idea has been pushed forward by our government.

Existing programs created to mitigate the discrimination of minorities are already under heavy fire and as our populace grows more and more homogenized I anticipate we'll see fewer and fewer of those programs - and less and less funding driven to them. You can't continue to mitigate a problem as the "problem" diminishes to less of a problem and more of a "concern" to keep an eye on. 

I don't take any issue with folks wanting to ensure that programs meant to give a leg up to those lacking opportunity are commensurate with the actual need of that minority or subset of citizens. 
Those programs should be carefully measured and terminated when no longer necessary. 

When does the gov. step in or not step in to mitigate a lopsided availability of opportunity?  This will always be a slippery slope. I don't have a definitive answer. 

What I DO know is that the current climate of discrimination against middle class whites in the USA is indeed comical when compared to what so many other groups have endured over the past dozen decades despite the efforts of affirmative action and other programs.
