It wasn’t like Caldwell had a 15 sack guy to make the defense look good. Our starting OLBs barely got 10 sacks between the 2 of them. We still managed to win the division and a playoff game.

This is a fair take, but an argument could def be made that he waited too long to figure out how to play Williams in the secondary, neglected to find a better option than Herndon there, and could have manufactured more results from our pass rush with some combination of:

• fixing the coverage issues sooner
  
• dialing up more aggressive blitz schemes 
  
• moving his DL/OLB pieces around sooner and more frequently to find the best result
  
  

Personally, I'm mostly good with the somewhat delayed timeline of these things since he was a first year coordinator.   I'll be eager to see what year two in his system reveals for the development of the Walker, Lloyd, Cisco, Muma  - and whether they find a way to help Allen's pressures to turn into sacks.
