I was so hoping that CNN was going to follow through on their pledge to bring it back to the center and be the icon of accountability and accuracy they used to be. Sadly, with the latest turnover of leadership, it doesn’t appear that will happen.

The media and press contribute mightily to the divisiveness in this country. The Fourth Estate should be our uniter by being the touchstone of sanity, vigilance, skepticism and fairness. I fear the institution is gone for good and that bodes poorly for our future.

Nobody wants to listen to moderates.  
Every right winger gets angry at a moderate when the moderate goes against right wing orthodoxy, and every left winger does the same.  Nobody remembers the times that the moderate agreed with them.  Nobody is willing to say, "yeah I disagreed with him about X, but I agreed with him about Y and Z." They say, "anybody who doesn't agree with me about X is a bigot/socialist/fascist/idiot, and I don't care what they think about Y and Z."
Further, they are so high on their own supply and confident in the universality of their orthodoxy that they'll insist any moderate is not a "real republican" even after they see the voter registration.

So my message to you now is the same as my message to NYC earlier.
You can hound me and insult me all you want.  You can be the close minded partisan butthead all you want.
But don't hound and insult the moderates out here, don't try to chase them away, and then turn around and wonder where the moderate voices went.
