eh, if defenders don't consider themselves projectiles probably no flag. If you're already off the ground looking for contact on a guy who isn't even in possession of the ball yet and not facing you, you're gonna get the flag. Every player in the league knows it. Whether it's defenseless receivers or mid-air collisions, a lot of these are caused by guys launching themselves like torpedos into a play, and that's a big part of what they are trying to discourage.

Contact is fine. Get your base, wrap up, and smack a guy in the mouth, just fine. That's fundamental football.
