I can understand having one in the case of a player being injured and not being able to make the Combine or if he flat out wasn't invited, but besides that what's the point?

 

As far as I can tell it's a way for guys who are scared of competing at the combine to pretend that they're not scared to show what they're made of compared to the other prospects.

 

It's like the guys that play skill positions who refuse to run the 40 at the combine because then they'll be doing it with electronic timing and in an environment that allows them to actually be compared with everyone else doing the same thing in the same place.

 

When a guy refuses to compete it's a red flag.
