Ultimately tho, whether you Tag him or you give him a long term contract I think we definitely have to keep him here.

He's a good overall football player that's shown the capacity now to hit the QB and put them in the stat column that gets you noticed and paid. He specifically said that was his goal in the off season, to study and review film at home and learn where he could improve at specifically getting the sacks he's getting now. 

Even if he's turning it up now because of the potential contract extension? He's had good enough games throughout his career to justify the $16.5M to $18M per year mark in my opinion. Still waiting on Walker. Still hoping for Hamilton to come back healthy and flash within the interior. We're hoping Smoot can also do some more of those things he did yesterday as well. Like splitting two TE's to make a sound TFL.

With Allen? There's really no waiting or hoping for. You have it with him. No sense in gambling again with an unknown going into 2024.
