Funny sketch! I see lots of opinions being floated on this though.
Personally - My speculation is he has an MCL strain and not a tear and he'll play through it unless it worsens significantly and we'll forget about it in a few weeks. If he can't go Thursday - he'll get time to heal up and we can worry about the injury much less after the "mini-bye" I'm good with either of those fairly predictable outcomes and I doubt it impacts our season significantly Hate that he got hurt, but we've already seen him take ~20 hits this year that all could have resulted in injury. Every time he steps out there he's in danger. It's a fine line to tightrope walk between protecting him and playing it too safe offensively. I choose to err on the side of keeping the pedal down even though I wish they'd have called a play that exposed him less right there. So in the end - I'm good with the call and hope they remember it when we have a lead late in games moving forward. (i.e. - don't do that again) Remember in his rookie year and second year, we all vacillated between "they should dial up more QB runs, he's good at it" and "too many QB runs are gonna get him hurt"? This is sort of an extension of that conundrum, and we're getting a glimpse of the downside to it. Hopefully it turns out to only be a glimpse. |
