Little knows the blocking schemes/assignments and should get first crack at it.

If Scherff gets banged up or his play drops off due to playing through injury again, they have Ezra at RG.
If a tackle goes down and Little moves outside - they have Ezra at LG.
If Little turns out ill suited to play guard due to size or skill set - they have Ezra.

They basically bought the rights to negotiate a deal with a guard for next year with a sixth round pick they got by unloading Shenault - and landed immediate starter level guard depth they lacked.
