Pederson/Taylor's Playcalling
|
Unfortunate to say, but I think Doug has completely lost me.
Here's his latest presser: https://www.youtube.com/live/PwovrlgwTak...jlxtvUSDx7 Essentially, he spends time: 1) Praising Press Taylor's first year 2) Painting the O-line as a "bright spot" for the offense 3) Saying he got "a lot" from this year's rookie class I can understand the last one, to give the young guys a confidence boost, but the first two points are very alarming. They signal to me that Doug is terrible at assessing talent. He even specifically praises Luke Fortner. Here's a quote from Doug: "I thought overall, Press did a nice job of organizing the offense, the game planning that we did, and even calling. I would have to go back and look at all the numbers, but I think points and different things like that, we were better (than last year). We can still get better on third down and in the red zone, all of that. He did a nice job." In case Doug wasn't aware, the offense was worse in every measurable category this year, so I'm not sure what Doug is thinking. Also, when asked if drastic changes were needed, he answered: “No. It’s not those types of changes. It could be as easy as the communication, the messaging of the team and how I approach that.” He mentions that he and Trent "understand" urgency and will "fix mistakes". Looks like we're in for another Baalke draft, and a Press Taylor 2024-2025 offense. Yuck. I'm really hoping Trent doesn't share the same beliefs as Doug on the O-line. Trevor's going to be Andrew Luck/Carson Wentz quickly if he does. |
