Yes, a lot of Democrats want gas prices to go up.  Yes, they favor policies that usually (and recently did) cause inflation. 
They also favor... wait for it... electric cars and hybrid cars.  
If they really wanted to herd you into dense cities using only buses to get around, they would not be trying to create these additional options.
