You'd still have to have an OC, even if only in title. It puts ALL of the midweek study, planning, and prep on Doug's shoulders unless he again lets the OC take the reins. It takes Doug out of the action during defensive plays if he has to pay more attention to coaching up the offensive guys or talking in-game adjustments. That part might be feasible if the DC is at the level of assistant HC, but I highly doubt he'd do that with a fresh hire.

Doug went a season in Philly without an OC, instead he had the lower assistants and a pair of consultants who helped with gameplanning. What's so stupid about all this "Press Sux" stuff is that in Philly the meddling onwer and GM wanted to force Doug to give up playcalling and he didn't want to, now here we are with fans clamoring for him to take up playcalling when he doesn't want to. It's laughable just how backwards everything has become here compared to his departure from the Iggs.
