It was great having Big Hen and Stroud during the Jaguars defensive haydays but a Gary Walker type of DT would send this defense to the moon.

The secondary could play more aggressive and break on the quick stuff.

If they're looking to cut some players and shift their focus onto one side of the football field. It's coming down between the interior on both sides for me personally. Which I think is obvious for most fans and onlookers.

March is more important than April for me, this is due to Baalke's luck tending to be better in free agency Vs. the draft and he's been relatively good about securing decent talent that doesn't break the bank too bad.

With that said, here's what I think might happen because some of it makes the most obvious sense.

Calais Campbell is signed on for one year. He was already in the building last year, he knows this defense already with Hewitt coming over. If he's willing to play one more year it would be probably about the same price, if not, slightly cheaper than last year's deal in Atlanta. He gives you a strong presence that can play inside or outside. He would be a guy I call on day one.

D.J Reader would be my next target. He's another big, space eating presence we need that can play inside and outside. He would probably be a reasonable signing. He'll be 30 already this year but he might have a solid year or two left in the tank.

Lastly, Christian Wilkins is my big splurge target on defense if we can afford it. Once again, like the other two guys listed above, he can play inside and outside and he's coming off of his best year yet as a pass rusher. He's also very active in the running game and is known to rack up quite a bit of tackles so he's not only worth the money but he's very well rounded.

I think if you can walk out of March after cutting Scherff, Robinson and possibly Fatukasi (unless the hit kills us, too lazy to look it up), I feel that you look at lot better and feel a lot better entering training camp with that many proven veterans added into the interior mix of this newly installed defense.

Campbell, Reader and Wilkins would be massive additions to this team and they would give you exactly what you need to get Walker and Allen even more freedom and opportunities to wreak havoc. Do I think they'll get all three of them? No. Could they realistically get one or two of them? Absolutely.
