You guys are honestly nuts if you think Trevor is signing an extension to save the jags a bunch of money. Even if he signs a team friendly deal, which he won’t, the moment he plays like a top 5 quarterback he’s going to restructure that contract and become the highest paid qb in the league.

Mahomes signed a 10 year deal in 2020 after winning the Super Bowl. He’s restructured twice since then and the plan is to revisit and restructure again by 2026 at the latest.

That’s how things work. There’s absolutely no need to sign him to anything sooner. You play him at his 11m per year next year and use that savings now to beef up the team around him. If he plays great - then yes you can give him an extension one year from now.

We still have the 5th year option and we also can still franchise him if we absolutely have to. But it won’t come to that.
