Currently would you as the GM give Lawrence a Mega deal?

Why would Trevor accept that kind of deal?

Don't know if he would, but based on his play/stats it's what he currently deserves.

You’re offering him top 10-15 money. Which is ludicrous.

Him and his agent would laugh you out the building and then that would stunt the next negotiation. Brilliant move! Let’s have back to back years where our best players don’t want to negotiate.

Even if he signs a team friendly deal, which he won’t, the moment he plays like a top 5 quarterback he’s going to restructure that contract and become the highest paid qb in the league.

Mahomes signed a 10 year deal in 2020 after winning the Super Bowl. He’s restructured twice since then and the plan is to revisit and restructure again by 2026 at the latest.

That’s how things work. There’s absolutely no need to sign him to anything sooner. You play him at his 11m per year next year and use that savings now to beef up the team around him. If he plays great - then yes you can give him an extension one year from now.

We still have the 5th year option and we also can still franchise him if we absolutely have to. But it won’t come to that.
You realize that if they sign him to an extension, they can still have him play the season at 11m right? It’s not like his cap hit would be 45 million.

Based on his play, putting him in the top 10 is already being generous. I'm sure his agent who gets a % cut of the pay wants more, i'm sure the guy cashing the check wants more, but he hasn't earned anything more than that. I'm sure he will end up getting more, but if he does and his play dosen't improve 10 fold, we're going to be average for the next 5 years.
