It's been discussed.  If Ridley wants to be here and we want him back they should work out  a deal and just sign him the minute FA starts.  Ridley should want the team he's going to be with as strong as possible.  Our 2nd round pick at 47 should be a starter or our 3rd pass rusher and a important part to this team vs a mid 3rd round pick.

it's a roll of the dice, but a second round pick is certainly worth the gamble. DarftDuelKings would be so proud of us!

It’s been discussed plenty. The Jags do risk losing him this way (even if they have a handshake deal). I think this happened to Carlos Boozer and the Cavs a while ago. Boozer said he would resign with them after FA started and then he bolted for the Jazz. 

My guess is that Baalke told Ridley “we want you but we don’t want to lose the 2nd round pick. So we will give you a big contract right as the new league year starts.” Ridley probably said that he would do that but who knows what other teams might offer. Just like any FA, he’s going to get the most money as possible. If another team offers him more, he’s gone. Then WR becomes a massive need.

Dunno that I would even go that far. I would do nothing person-to-person until league year/tampering begins. Don't want to give the lawyas anything to get their claws into. Baalke has publicly stated that we want him here, and that's plenty to suggest that a deal will be offered in time.
