How do they know?  Probably because they kinda do this thing for a living, unlike you and me.

 

What you plan to do (based on your evaluation of readiness,) and what you end up having to do (out of necessity, among other things) are two entirely different things.  It surely factored into where he was drafted, and most teams aren't in the luxury of drafting a QB in the top five and can afford to plan to sit them a year.  That's this draft class in a nutshell.  If you go early, you're going to be giving more than you get based on them all likely needing some level of "seasoning" before given the keys... especially since none of those needy teams (outside Houston) are anywhere near being a complete team (minus the QB) like Seattle was.
