With a few exceptions, Boeing isn't the problem. It's the airlines, specifically United lately, and maintenance issues caused by poor oversight and myriad other problems in leadership. I'm sure the airlines are also suffering from worker shortages like nearly every other industry. 

In the Navy, this would have resulted in a safety standdown where all non-essential operations are halted for intense maintenance and safety training. Unfortunately, airlines do not have that latitude, but it is effective at shocking complacency out of the system back into the correct mindset.
