I’ve watched shows like this plenty and still have never heard it. Most people just want bigger kitchens and their kids playroom is in the basement. Out of eye sight.

I do agree there are helicopter parents but I just disagree with the notion that this generation wants open floor plans to watch their kids more. Maybe some parents but those are very minimal.

It's not very often that I've heard it, usually it's just an innocuous statement like "it will also help us keep an eye on the kids" so more an added bonus.

I'm not one to speak though I'm a helicopter parent out of necessity
