But this strikes me as odd. If a coaches “speciality” is maximizing a specific position group, then wouldn’t that mean you should not have to invest high level resources (signings/picks) at that position group to get similar results to the rest of the league?

And now if the team is investing high level resources at that position group, then above average production is not good enough. The expectation would be elite production. Enough so that it can cover up weaknesses in other areas of the defense.

I think they've invested a perfectly fine amount of capital into a glaring weakness for our team.

We have no idea what we are going to get from Hamilton. 
We waived Fatukasi
RRH looked good in the latter end of 2022 - not as good last year. 
Armstead is aging with an injury history that means he may not play a full season
Everyone else on the roster is backup rotation level players

I like the pick - I'm also glad they added a guy that can develop into a NT even if I'd have spent the pick differently

The last coach didn't get the most out of the IDL 
Hopefully this guy has enough to work with and actually gets them to maximize potential better than the last guy.
