Bro, you still can't link it or post the whole article? How hard is that?
Out of curiosity, why do you think I should quote information verbatim or even respond to it. I read it, processed it, overgeneralized a response (because what you posted is a blip on much broader foreign policy platform), and generally mocked you for what amounts to 1 or 2 "failings" of the Trump administration with regards to foreign policy. It's not even a complete picture. Look, dude... the real sign of intelligence is when you can extrapolate information and make connections. Maybe this is why we struggle to be on the same page. I can think without being told what to think, and I just assume you can, too. I'll try harder in the future to make connections for you. Xi refused to pressure N. Korea. Oh no. Freaking Trump. He should have been nicer. Right? Then Xi would have happily done his bidding. Get real. Don't care about his war on Chinese businesses or him leaving a bad TPP deal. That article assumes that Trump is the reason China wanted to become independent of US tech. That's ridiculous. I dare you to waste 5 minutes of your day and google Chinese technological ambitions prior to 2016. They aren't stupid. They literally have ambitions for global dominance. Did you think they were going to use Facebook to get there? Trump initiated a trade war that hurt US businesses... ok, but it also hurt China. I said leading up to 2020 that one of my biggest reasons for wanting to keep Trump in office was that we needed to keep pressure on China for his policy to work. It was a calculated war of attrition. How did that play out after he left office? Biden fixed everything. Lol. JK. [BLEEP] happens. Almost none of the things mentioned (and let's be honest, most of those are nitpicky things) are exclusively dependent on Trump. You want me to break down the Russia stuff, too? It's weak garbage. "We don't know what Trump did with Russia... blah blah blah." What did they actually say there? Nothing. How should I respond to that fine piece of investigative journalism? By and large, his foreign policy was pretty sound. There was peace and prosperity. There were a lot of tensions with China, certainly. Things in the Middle East were stabilizing, etc. Look, there were some things Trump did I didn't like. He really did take a laissez-faire approach to foreign policy in a lot of ways. While I think it was hurting China, I think it strengthened Russia. It could be argued that Trump's hands off approach with Russia helped them economically which led to the Ukraine invasion, but they weren't doing that under Trump. Could it be that there was no need to invade when companies could operate more freely. I think a lot of our global issues stem from the US government trying too hard to manage other places. Does that create competition among other nations? Certainly... but it doesn't create resentment, which is why things are falling apart under the Biden administration. I sure would like to read that whole article. |
