General Wesley Clark came forward with that years ago. I always found it odd, that, we started a war in Iraq post 9/11, when, it was Osama Bin Laden and Al'CIA'eda that took the victory laps and credit for it.

I was under the impression that Hussein got his come uppin's because he told our Government he was going to start selling his oil for Euro's instead of USD. The same thing that Gaddafi told our Government when he said he wanted to create his own currency, the Dinar, for their resources there, etc.

Anyway, I won't derail the main topic too much. I am 50/50 with DeSantis. There's some things I like about him and some things I don't like. The one thing I appreciated about him the most? Him sticking it to Biden during Covid and Lockdowns. I also appreciate his efforts in getting our Public School System somewhat back to normal.

Wesley Clark did not say that.  The source of that quote is his memoir, in which he claims a general at the Pentagon said that.

As for why we went after Iraq post-9/11, there is strong evidence that Bush Jr instigated that war because Saddam Hussein had plotted to assassinate Bush Sr.  The 9/11 attacks gave him a wonderful pretext for attacking Iraq.

This was the all-out US war plan for the entire Middle East (wearethemighty.com)

That was part of it for sure, but the treaty the UN made Iraq sign in 1992 with the weapons inspections was a ticking time bomb regardless.  No one really believed the weapons inspections were effective, and everyone believed Saddamm was trying to hide things.  The only questions were if the weapons he might have were a big enough deal to start a war over, and if so when to go in.

Remember Tony Blair was all for it too.  John Kerry and Hillary Clinton were all for it.  I think, had Gore won, and had Gore been in office when 9/11 happened, Gore also would have ended up invading Iraq before the 2004 elections.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
