I said he didn't separate kids from their parents at the border.
He deported an insane number of illegal immigrants who had been here for a while. Not folks who had just arrived.  All kids were left with at least one parent whenever possible.
And Obama deporting those folks was good at the time.  Unemployment was stubbornly high during his first term.

Unfortunately Obama did separate kids. There were two issues that caused it. First because children can’t be held in detention facilities for adults, during his terms about 492,970 were referred for prosecution.  Second children were separated from adults when suspicion of trafficking, another outstanding warrant or insufficient proof of a family relationship. The reason there is more definitive numbers was they did not keep records of the children under Obama, that is all. They began keeping those records under Trump. Like Paul Harvey always said "and now you know the rest of the story".

On June 20, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing Nielsen to keep families in custody together “during the pendency of any criminal improper entry or immigration proceedings involving their members” at least “to the extent permitted by law and subject to the availability of appropriations.”
