Which aligns somewhat with what Cecil Shorts said. There are more moving parts on offense, especially one with new players and rusty veterans.

Robinson back at LT after a year of suspension and injury.
Cleveland back at LG after a year of being traded with his injury.
Morse inserted into a new offense at C and having to adjust to everything.
Scherff and Harrison are the only real consistency we had last year at RG and RT and both of them had injuries to work through all year.

Ridley out. Brian Thomas Jr. in.
Jones out. Davis in.
Agnew out. Duvernay in.
Kirk back from a core injury.
Lawrence back from multiple injuries.

2nd year players in Bigsby, Washington and Strange working their way into the line-up.

It's common sense for me really. The offense is always more intricate and hard to work through, whereas on defense, 9 times out of 10 you're just reading and reacting. Nielsen is also a lot more aggressive coaching wise than Caldwell is. So, it's not surprising to see the defense off to a better start. Especially in the secondary. As that's where they were looking to improve the most based on the off season additions. Jarrian Jones will more than likely end up being the best overall rookie from this draft class we had back in April.
