And, they cannot take into account the actual assignment the player had.  Only the coaches know that.

That's really not the case. Watching film a knowledgeable person can tell the assignments by the play call, the idea that you can't tell when the left tackle got beat by the defensive end is silly. Or when the end stunts and beats the guard who didn't get back in the hole, you can see these things, it's not rocket surgery.
