Does a HC really have as much control as the GM? My understanding of hierarchy in a FO says no, but I could be wrong. As GM, it's his job to take responsibility for roster picks and address deficiencies, with input from the HC. 

If Pederson does have equal say, then yes, he deserves a swift kick in the nuts as much as Baalke. Sometimes I wish Khan would channel his inner Jerrah when needed. I'm sure he has one because a person doesn't get to be a self-made billionaire industrialist without it.

The idea that Doug has equal input to Baalke is ridiculous.

Doug's main job is coaching the team, Trent's main job is supposed to be talent evaluation and roster building.

If a team is doing things right then there isn't enough time for one guy to do both jobs well. Some teams have a coach that is supposed to be GM, too, but they still have a different guy actually doing the main work of evaluating players and the coach just picks guys from the lists of players the player evaluation guy provides.
