I don't think you guys are looking at the right cap number for cutting/trading RRH. It's the Dead Cap column in these situations and I don't believe you can post-June 1st him because it's not the final year of his deal, but I could be wrong on that. You definitely can't post-June 1st him and spread it out over 3 years though. Post-june cuts allow you to take half the remaining dead cap hit now and half the following season.
RRH's Dead Cap figure is $11.7 Million this year, so the situation is either keep him, take an $11.7 Million cap hit by either cutting or trading him OR potentially treating him as post-june 1st (if possible, not sure it is) which would be $5.85M hit this year and $5.85M next year. Not an unmanageable cap situation, but his dead cap figure isn't as comfy as some of you have described. Also, he got $4M guaranteed on 3/22/24 earlier this year. It would be a a pretty obvious error to have paid that and then decided just months later to cut him. I'm guessing based on the guarantees and likely dead cap hit of $11.7M that he's probably safe. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/...son-harris |
